Risks and Side Effects Linked to Yaz
Serious side effects and risks have been linked to Yaz birth control in recent years. Women who have encountered the sometimes life-threatening side effects associated with Yaz are continuously publicly speaking about their health complications and seeking legal help for their injuries. Among the serious side effects that have been reported in women using Yaz are:
There have also been cases of gall bladder disease and pancreatitis linked to the use of Yaz birth control.
In light of the many injuries that have occurred, lawsuits that have been filed, and even deaths that have plagued innocent families, consumer groups and some members of the medical community are now questioning Yaz and investigating its side effects further. Doctors and researchers are conducting studies and delving into data to see what may account for this increased risk for blood clots and strokes linked to Yaz.
Yaz (also referred to as Yasmin) is considered a Òfourth generationÓ birth control pill. It is called "fourth generation" due to the fact that it contains a newer type of synthetic progestin, known as drospirenone. Despite the side effects that have surfaced and this "new" type of progestin that is now in question, Yaz has become one of the most popular contraceptives on the market. It has been widely marketed to women, age 14 and older, throughout the United States as a medication that will not only prevent pregnancy but will also help treat premenstrual syndrome (PMS) and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD).
According to recent research, the severe side effects of Yaz may be the result of changes caused by the medication in your blood clotting system. This increased risk of developing blood clots, having a stroke, and experiencing a heart attack is being linked to the type of synthetic progestin used in the production of Yaz called drospirenone.
One of the many major side effects reported by women who have taken Yaz are blood clots. Many of the women who have come forth regarding their health problems in association with Yaz reportedly have no family history of blood clots. However, they have suffered from life threatening injuries involving clots themselves since taking Yaz.
The type and amount of extra hormones in many birth control pills can give women an increased risk of developing blood clots, an issue that can lead to other serious health complication if not diagnosed and treated early enough. After a woman experiences a blood clot they could be faced with life-altering decision pertaining to their future health, including whether or not they need to go on blood thinners, may have future pregnancy problems, or may have continuous pain in the area where the clot occurred.
The FDA and producers of Yaz, Bayer Pharmaceuticals, have yet to recall Yaz despite the reported strokes, blood clots, and deaths the bith control has caused in women across the country. Yaz still remains one of the most popular and commonly prescribed birth control pills despite its known risks and side effects.
