Question: Aren't Denture Cream makers required to list zinc as an ingredient?
Answer: No, they're not. The FDA does not require that zinc be listed as an ingredient in the packaging. If your product doesn't mention zinc on the box or tube, then it probably contains zinc. To find out you can call the company of go to the product's website. The FDA does require denture cream packaging to be truthful, however, so if your product says it is zinc-free, then it probably is. The most popular name brand products have contained zinc for many years, but Glaxo Smith Kline, the maker of the Poligrip line of products, recently discontinued the use of zinc in its Poligrip Original, Ultra Fresh, and Ultra Care denture creams. Glaxo makes some zinc-free products, such as Super Poligrip Free, Poligrip Comfort Seal Strips, or Poligrip Powder. The maker of Fixodent, Proctor and Gamble, has to date not removed zinc from its popular product.
