New Hampshire has lots of lakes and lots of boaters.  That is familiar to anyone who spends time here.  Up here in the Lakes region, boating is big business.

Over the last few years we have seen

• The addition of licensing requirements.  You need to have a boating license and have taken a boater education course.  See New Hampshire Boater education for more info.
•  A rising call for Speed limits for boats
• Recent high profile boat accidents

Boating Accidents tend to be caused by a few factors:

• Speed
• Distraction
• Alcohol

In many ways these New Hampshire boating accidents are similar to auto accidents.  To prove a case you need to prove:

• That the defendant made some error (Driver was drunk, wasn't following right of way, or was speeding)
• The accident was a direct result of the defendant's error
• The injuries were the result of the error and the accident
• You always technically have to prove the amount of damages
